Dear Reader,
Bring in the new - but quietly, please

One of the wonderful things about our industry is the very wide variety of customers and applications we have the opportunity to get involved with. There's barely an industry that doesn't need marking and traceability technology in one form or another, and that includes cutting-edge sectors like sustainable transport.
For this issue, we visited Modec, manufacturers of modern-day commercial EVs (electric vehicles) - they make the old milk-floats of my youth look like lumbering dinosaurs - to see how they're using a Technifor scribe marking system to meet vehicle legislation whilst keeping the peace in their Coventry assembly plant.
Best regards

Modec (quietly) marks the way forward

The Modec range of zero-emission vehicles is possibly the greatest leap forward in commercial vehicle development since the internal combustion engine. Helping the company meet strict legal requirements for chassis identification at its new factory in Coventry is the latest Technifor scribing technology. Click here to read the full story.

Scribe marking:

Quality marking without the noise.

Scribing machines use a hardened pin to mark the surface of components. Compared with Micro-Percussion, scribed marks have a smoother, more continuous appearance. The marks therefore benefit from a higher quality appearance and the marking process itself is quieter.

For deep marking, Technifor offers the fast and rigid SV312 scribing machine capable of marking characters to a depth of 0.3 mm in steel (110 HB) or 0.25 mm in cast iron. These capabilities make the SV312 the ideal solution for identification of automotive engine blocks identification or direct VIN marking.

Jonny Grey - Making a big noise in the midlands

Technifor's latest recruit intends to be anything but quiet in his new role as technical sales manager for the UK midlands.

With 5 years of industrial sales experience - most recently with a well-known maker of industrial robots - Jonny is excited about his new role and about the company's growing customer base.

"Technifor has some great products in its range and some very interesting additions due in the near future - including a new laser," he says. "There aren't too many areas where we can't offer a marking or traceability solution, so I'm looking forward to a very busy and interesting first few months in the job."

Jonny will be based in Staffordshire where he lives with his wife and daughter. If you'd like to speak to him about how Technifor can help your company, please call 01926 884422.
